Five Minutes with Eva Mount, General Manager at The BoTree

This month, we’re meeting ….. Eva Mount, General Manager at The BoTree

Can you tell us a little bit about your work at The BoTree.

My day usually starts with taking my dogs Alfie and Murphy to the park before I make my way to The BoTree – a great mindful way to enjoy the local parks. Being a General Manager, my main role is to make sure the hotel is running smoothly for guests. The day starts with reports from the night before, a morning meeting, greeting guests in the lobby, followed by doing my best to make sure everyone that walks through our doors has the best stay and experience at The BoTree.

How did you get to where you are today?

After college, I started my career as a Receptionist and worked up to General Manager within Trusthouse before becoming a General Manager at BoTree in my early twenties. During this time, I worked in four-star and five-star hotels. I really enjoyed the quality and service experience in five-star settings as well as the more the commercial aspects of working within four-star hotels. When I joined Firmdale Hotels, I found the perfect balance and spent 10 years at their Charlotte Street, Soho, and Dorset Square hotels. Since then, I have specialised in five-star hotels and particularly enjoy openings and developing a luxury service.

How has Covid-19 impacted your organisation?

The BoTree opened its doors in September 2023, so while we weren’t operating during the pandemic, it did cause some construction delays. On the positive side, the post-Covid travel boom has really benefited us. We’ve seen high demand throughout our first year, which has been a fantastic start for The BoTree!

What do you like most about being based on Harley Street?

I’d say the central London location. Being so close to Oxford Street and Soho brings in a lot of foot traffic and appetite to explore the area. We get a diverse mix of people – international travellers, locals, business guests, and families – and the Harley Street district has something for everyone to enjoy.

What are your thoughts on the future of the Harley Street Area?

I can see it continuing to be lively place of connection for local businesses, as well as a vibrant hub for locals and visitors to enjoy and explore. It’s got a unique energy that I think will only grow stronger.

How could a visitor to the area spend their time here?

 Visitors can explore the fantastic mix of shops and tourist destinations in the area, including local parks. For a taste of Italian elegance, they could visit LAVO, our restaurant, which offers sophisticated dishes with a coastal flair. Afterward, they can unwind with a couple of nightcaps at our bar, before settling in for a relaxing stay at The BoTree.

Any particular recommendations or hidden gems?

Marylebone Lane and Marylebone High Street are a must-visit! I can easily spend hours browsing the unique, charming shops there – they’ve got a welcoming, vibrant feel, much like The BoTree, if I do say so myself!

If you could describe the Harley Street area in three words, what would they be? 

Community, innovative and diverse.
