Shaping the Future of the Harley Street Area: Share Your Voice

At the Harley Street BID, we’re committed to enhancing the iconic Harley Street area for everyone who works, lives, visits, and studies here.

That’s why we’re thrilled to invite you to share your views on our Draft Masterplan Strategy—a collaborative vision for the area’s streets and spaces developed alongside urban designers Publica and traffic consultants Norman Rourke Pryme (NRP).  This ambitious masterplan outlines a series of short-, medium-, and long-term interventions aimed at celebrating the area’s rich heritage, improving accessibility, enhancing greenery, and creating a more welcoming, resilient, and vibrant environment.

Shaping the Future of the Harley Street Area: Share Your Voice

A Vision Rooted in Community
The masterplan’s guiding ambitions reflect the feedback and insights gathered during extensive consultations with stakeholders, including businesses, residents, and local organisations. From online surveys to street pop-ups and stakeholder events, over 400 individuals shared their thoughts, ensuring the plan is firmly grounded in the needs and aspirations of our diverse community.
Our ambitions include:
• Welcoming Spaces: Creating inviting streets and public spaces that encourage people to linger and enjoy the area.
• Health and Wellbeing: Highlighting Harley Street’s healthcare heritage by promoting accessibility and public realm improvements.
• Heritage: Enhancing the unique Georgian and Victorian architecture that defines our neighbourhood.
• Neighbourhood Qualities: Improving safety and connectivity to foster a greater sense of community.
• Green Links: Connecting key routes with new planting and micro-habitats to boost biodiversity.
• Climate Resilience: Tackling climate change through sustainable design, including shaded areas, biodiverse planting, and materials that stand the test of time.

From Vision to Action
The masterplan proposes projects for phased delivery:
• Short-term (next 12 months): Tactical improvements to enhance key locations.
• Medium-term (1–2 years): Larger-scale projects to transform streets and spaces.
• Long-term (3+ years): Establishing a greener, more sustainable Harley Street area.
