The BID was pleased to attend the third annual Sustainable City Charter Showcase, held during Circular Economy Week, bringing together businesses and industry leaders to explore how circular economy principles can help create a greener, more sustainable Westminster.
As one of the strategic partners of the Sustainable City Charter, the BID is proud to support this important initiative and is encouraging more local businesses to get involved and demonstrate a commitment to helping the City of Westminster reach net zero by 2040.

The event, Circular Economy Principles in Action, highlighted how reusing, repairing and recycling buildings and materials can reduce waste, conserve precious resources and cut carbon emissions across Westminster’s built environment.
Attendees heard from Cllr Tim Mitchell, Cabinet Member for City Management at Westminster City Council, who shared progress being made by Westminster businesses in reducing carbon emissions. Grosvenor Property also showcased its South Molton development, demonstrating how circular economy principles can be successfully incorporated into major development projects.
A panel of industry experts then explored practical ways businesses can embrace circularity, from extending the life of buildings and materials to improving procurement, supply chains and logistics. The role of BIDS in convening businesses was highlighted as an important component of the collaborative work enabling them to share their operational sector experiences and current challenges.
