Westminster City Council (WCC) has commissioned FM Conway to undertake essential carriageway resurfacing works on Harley Street on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th November 2024. The project will extend from the junction with Marylebone Road to No.130/No.131 Harley Street.

Westminster City Council (WCC) has commissioned FM Conway to undertake essential carriageway resurfacing works on Harley Street on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th November 2024. The project will extend from the junction with Marylebone Road to No.130/No.131 Harley Street.

Work will commence each day at 08:00hrs and is expected to conclude by 18:00hrs, though timings may be adjusted to ensure the completion of necessary repairs before reopening the street. If possible, WCC plans to reopen the road earlier.

To prioritise health and safety for residents, pedestrians, and workers, Harley Street will be closed to vehicles during the day, from the junction with Marylebone Road to Devonshire Street. However, the street will be reopened overnight for servicing from approximately 18:00hrs on the 13th, closing again at 08:00hrs on the 14th until all works are completed.

Diversion routes for vehicles will be clearly signposted throughout the duration of the works, and a Traffic Management plan has been provided to ensure smooth transit around the area. For deliveries to Harley Street between Marylebone Road and Devonshire Street, businesses are encouraged to use the nearest junctions or to delay deliveries until after the resurfacing.

While pedestrian access to buildings will be maintained, residents and commuters should expect longer walking routes due to the installation of fencing along the kerb edge. The council has apologised for any inconvenience this may cause.

Property owners are reminded that maintaining the basement or vault structure separate from the public highway is their responsibility. If the vault has not been adequately damp-proofed, it may be susceptible to water ingress, and WCC will not be liable for any damage resulting from such circumstances.

Although the planned dates are set, the council acknowledges that operational reasons, such as adverse weather, could cause delays. Should there be any significant changes to the programme, affected parties will be notified promptly.

In advance of the works, an Advanced Works Notification has been distributed to local businesses and residents, and the council has pledged to keep noise disruptions to a minimum during the project.

For more information, residents and businesses are encouraged to reach out directly to Westminster City Council.
