Spotlight: Coffee Brigade opens at St Marylebone Parish Church

A new independent coffee favourite has arrived in Marylebone, as Coffee Brigade launches a new pitch at St Marylebone Parish Church, trading Monday to Saturday.

Owned and run by Jamie Dooley, Coffee Brigade is built on more than just great coffee. Jamie is focused on creating a welcoming space where people can pause, connect, and enjoy a high-quality cup as part of their daily routine. As the business settles into its new home, building a strong sense of community, learning the rhythm of the site throughout the year, and tackling any challenges along the way are all part of the journey.

Inspired by Italian coffee culture

The foundations of Coffee Brigade were laid in 2018, when Jamie moved to Milan for work. While there, he quickly became immersed in Italian coffee culture, particularly the tradition of taking a short “pausa” for a quick espresso at the bar.

“It was never just about the coffee,” Jamie explains. “It was about taking a moment, connecting with colleagues, and having a brief pause in a busy day.”

Although he spent more than a decade in corporate roles for major UK companies, Jamie had always wanted to build something of his own. After experimenting with different food ideas, he returned to what first inspired him: coffee. He began studying the craft through Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) courses, and his curiosity soon turned into a passion.

Coffee Brigade officially came to life after Jamie discovered a 1978 French fire engine, which he transformed into a mobile coffee business. More recently, he decided to fully commit to the brand – leaving his corporate career behind after graduating in Boulangerie from Le Cordon Bleu London.

It is dedicated to serving speciality coffee without compromise. Jamie works closely with trusted roasters Wood Street and milk supplier The Estate Dairy, ensuring each cup is consistent, ethically sourced, and crafted with care.
