BID awarded Women’s Night Safety Accreditation

The BID has received Women’s Night Safety Accreditation for its work to help women and vulnerable visitors feel safer in the area.

As part of this work, the BID is working with Westminster City Council to establish more Safe Havens across the district.

These venues offer somewhere to go for anyone who feels unsafe or needs help.  The team also attend quarterly Women’s Night Safety Oversight meetings with other Westminster BIDs, the Metropolitan Police, Transport for London and British Transport Police. The meetings allow partners to share concerns and agree practical steps to improve safety across Westminster, during the day and at night.

Ashley Durling, Head of Operations and Security at Harley Street BID, said:

“We’re pleased to receive this accreditation. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes, and it’s good to see that recognised.

“Our next step is to work with Westminster City Council and local venues to get more Safe Havens in place. If someone feels unsafe or needs help, we want them to have somewhere nearby to turn to.”
