The Harley Street BID is made up of a fantastic array of businesses, organisations and practices. Each month, we spend some time getting to know one of the people who calls the Harley Street area home.
This month, we’re meeting Moss Moghadamnia, General Manager at Coppa Club Marylebone.
Tell us a little about yourself and what you do.
I’m Moss, General Manager at Coppa Club Marylebone. I started working in hospitality at just 12 years old in my family’s restaurant, and I’ve now spent more than 16 years building a career across London’s premium hospitality scene, including gastropubs and bars in Mayfair and Chelsea. I currently oversee the day-to-day running of our site on Marylebone High Street.
Can you give us a quick overview of your organisation?
Coppa Club has a collection of restaurants across the UK, and our Marylebone site strikes a great balance between a coffee shop, restaurant and pub. We’re run by some of the best people in the business, and our food is delivered and prepared fresh each day, so quality is always front and centre.
What does a typical day look like for you?
It’s a mix of being out on the floor with the team and our guests, keeping across the numbers and making sure everything is running smoothly behind the scenes, so it all feels effortless out front.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The people – both the team and our guests. Building a team that genuinely cares, and seeing that reflected in how people feel when they visit, is the most rewarding part for me.
What do you like most about working in the Harley Street area?
It has a real neighbourhood feel, despite being in central London. There are lots of familiar faces and regulars, as well as a strong sense of community among local businesses.
What makes the area special for you?
The mix of medical professionals, independent shops and hospitality businesses, all sitting side by side. It gives the area a character that’s quite different from other parts of London.
Is there a favourite place in the area you like to visit?
I don’t get out much during working hours, but I enjoy walking along Marylebone High Street on my days off. It has a lovely village feel.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Look after your team and they’ll look after your guests. It’s simple, but it’s the truest thing I’ve learned in this industry.
And finally, tell us one thing people might be surprised to learn about you.
I have a genuine interest in wine and viticulture – not just serving wine, but also the science behind it, including grape varieties and growing regions. I could talk about it for hours.
