Pharmacierge has this month celebrated a decade of transforming private prescribing and medication delivery in the UK - a journey that began right here in the Harley Street Health District.
Founded by Robert and Edward Ungar in 2015, Pharmacierge was born from a legacy of care established by their father, Leon Ungar, a respected Harley Street pharmacist, and Private GP uncle Dr Stuart Ungar (co-founder of The Doctor’s Laboratory), who had served local patients for decades. Inspired by their work, the brothers built a digital platform to bring the same trust and responsiveness into the modern paperless age.
Today, Pharmacierge has grown into the UK’s preferred ePrescribing and delivery pharmacy for the private pathway, trusted by more than 4,500 consultants and GPs. The service dispenses and delivers thousands of prescriptions each week to patients across the country – combining cutting-edge digital efficiency with the compassion of traditional pharmacy care.
“At the heart of our systems is what private clinicians told us they needed,” explains Edward Ungar, Pharmacierge CEO and co-founder. “They wanted a pharmacy partner who could provide the speed and ease of digital prescribing, with the safety, responsiveness, and professionalism of a traditional pharmacy. “That combination has always been at the core of what we do”, continues Co-founder and brother, Robert.
Their commitment to innovation was recognised this year when Pharmacierge was named Healthcare Technology Provider of the Year at the HealthInvestor Awards 2025. The accolade reflects the company’s dedication to building technology and services shaped around the needs of private practitioners and their patients.
At the centre of Pharmacierge’s operations is a 5,500 sq ft state-of-the-art dispensary. The purpose-designed facility houses one of the UK’s largest private formularies, including controlled drugs, injectables and cold-chain items. It blends experienced pharmacy staff with advanced robotics to ensure safe, fast, and accurate dispensing.
Pharmacierge offers same-day deliveries within London and next-day nationwide, all tracked and signed for to ensure transparency and peace of mind for practices and patients alike.
A key driver of Pharmacierge’s success has been its proprietary technology, including mPrescribe®️, the UK’s first mobile app for private electronic prescribing. Developed in collaboration with clinicians, the app enables prescriptions to be issued securely within seconds, with a desktop version available for administrative workflows.
