As the new year triggers a surge in job searches, private health insurance is emerging as a major draw for candidates seeking new roles, according to the latest data from the Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN).
The survey reveals that 55% of UK respondents are more likely to apply for jobs offering private medical insurance (PMI), reflecting a growing demand for healthcare benefits amid mounting NHS pressures.
Younger Generations Prioritising Health Benefits
The appeal of PMI is particularly pronounced among younger job seekers, with 65% of 18–24-year-olds and 63% of 25–34-year-olds considering it a key factor in their employment decisions. Regionally, the East Midlands leads the trend, with 62% prioritising PMI, followed closely by London at 59%.
David Hare, Chief Executive of IHPN, remarked: “The start of the year sees a spike in job searches as people reassess their career priorities. For many, private health insurance is a dealbreaker, particularly among younger generations who place high value on accessible and timely healthcare options.”
