The Harley Street Medical Area is a place rich in history and heritage, and is home to a wealth of businesses across a wide range of sectors. Each month, we’ll be shining a light on someone with a connection to the area, exploring the role their business plays and picking up some useful local tips! In this edition of Spotlight, we’re catching up with Michele Ho, Director of Sales at The Mandeville Hotel.
Michele, can you tell us a little about Mandeville Hotel?
The Mandeville Hotel is a privately owned hotel since 2005. After a multi-million pound refurbishment programme, we re-launched as a contemporary 4-star deluxe boutique hotel. We have 142 guest rooms and 2 meeting rooms. You can also visit our all-day dining brasserie, Reform Social & Grill Restaurant and Bar, which was once home to Sir Francesco Paolo Tosti, an Italian musician and singing teacher to the Royal Family in 1880.
What’s your role at the hotel?
I am the Director of Sales and Marketing.
Can you tell us about your team?
I have four fantastic team members: they are all from different countries, with diverse backgrounds and personalities. It’s great working with such a wide variety of people.
How has Covid-19 changed the way you work?
Due to the challenges of Covid-19, we learned to be more flexible and able to multi-task. We have also had more time to reflect on what is happening around us.
What do you like most about being based in the Harley Street area?
Harley Street is a diverse area with lots of independent businesses and restaurants with a rich history. We are a very tight-knit community.
How should a visitor to the Harley Street area spend their time here?
Go down Marylebone High Street and experience the urban village feel! On Sunday, visit the Farmers’ Market and immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle. Pick up some fresh produce or even some fresh oysters from one of the market stalls.
If you could describe the Harley Street area in three words, what would they be?
Relaxed, stylish, unpretentious.
