As part of our ongoing series spotlighting the people who make the Harley Street area so unique, this month we spoke to Alex Bungardean, General Manager of Living Rooms, a collection of luxury, design-led serviced apartments across central London.
Could you tell us your name, title, and where you work?
My name is Alex Bungardean, and I’m the General Manager at Living Rooms, a collection of design-led luxury serviced apartments across six central London addresses, founded by visionary entrepreneur Tracy Lowy. As the hotel alternative, we offer subtle luxury by combining the comfort and privacy of home with the personalised service of a hotel for both short and long stays.
Can you give us an overview of your organisation and its focus?
We operate across six distinct addresses from Marylebone Village to Mayfair and Little Venice, offering a refined alternative to traditional hotels. Our apartments are thoughtfully designed, expertly crafted, elegant, and above all, comfortable. We create a sense of belonging, where everything is carefully considered and guests are cared for discreetly and personally by a team that genuinely cares.
What are your main responsibilities, and your favourite part of the role?
I oversee the daily operations across our apartments from guest experience to team coordination and maintaining standards. My favourite part is supporting the team and ensuring guests feel at home. No two days are the same, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see guests leave happy and already planning their next stay with us.
How would you describe a typical day for you?
Every day is different. I start by checking in with the team, welcoming guests, arranging last-minute details, or stepping in wherever needed, whether that’s Finance, Sales, or HR. It’s a mix of structure and spontaneity. I love being hands-on, connecting with people, and making sure everyone feels looked after.
What do you enjoy most about working in the Harley Street area?
It’s an elegant and historic area full of energy and atmosphere. The architecture, the small cafés, the effortless style of people walking by, it sometimes feels like a film set. It’s a beautiful place to work, and I never take that for granted.
Do you have any hidden gems or favourite spots in the area?
Hagen for coffee, WA Café for a matcha, and a slow wander down Marylebone High Street is always grounding. As a cheese fan, I love La Fromagerie on Moxon Street. For dinner, Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecôte never disappoints, and Paul Rothe & Son is a nostalgic favourite.
In three words, how would you describe Harley Street / Marylebone Village?
Elegant, charming, and cosmopolitan.
Share something interesting about yourself that others might not know.
A couple of years ago, I took up a pen,
Scribbling little poems now and then.
Shared with my friends, who seemed to cheer,
Watch out, Wordsworth, a book might appear!
