Support needed for UCLH Charity Children’s Cancer Appeal

UCLH Charity is calling on local businesses and the wider community to support its Children’s Cancer Appeal, helping to transform one of the UK’s largest children’s radiotherapy units into a welcoming and child-friendly environment.

UCLH treats more than half of all children in England receiving radiotherapy for cancer, making it one of the largest children’s radiotherapy centres in Europe. Families often travel hundreds of miles to access the specialist expertise of its world-leading medical teams.

While clinical care is of the highest standard, the hospital environment now needs updating to better reflect the exceptional treatment being provided. With community support, the children’s radiotherapy unit can be redesigned to create a more comfortable space for young patients, supportive surroundings for families, and facilities that match the expertise of staff.

Businesses are also being invited to support an International Nurses Day competition celebrating nurses across the UCLH Cancer Centre. Contributions from local retailers, hotels and restaurants would help recognise the difference nurses make every day, with supporting companies acknowledged across UCLH Charity’s social media channels.

In addition, participants are being sought for the UCLH Charity Abseil taking place on Saturday 27 June, one of the charity’s flagship fundraising events.
