A beautiful new addition to London’s green spaces has opened in The Regent’s Park, the Queen Elizabeth II Garden, created to honour the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Transforming a former plant nursery site, this thoughtfully designed two-acre garden offers a tranquil retreat in the heart of the city. Where disused glasshouses once stood, visitors will now find a vibrant space filled with colour, biodiversity and opportunities for quiet reflection.
Designed as both a celebration and a place of contemplation, the garden beautifully balances structure and natural flow. A central straight path symbolises the late Queen’s unwavering sense of duty and service, while winding routes invite visitors to explore at their own pace.
At the main southern entrance, a peaceful pond, pergola and seating area create an immediate sense of calm, ideal for a moment away from the pace of the city.
Planting throughout the garden has been carefully curated to support wildlife and provide year-round interest. Many species hold royal significance, including:
• Lily of the valley – from the Queen’s coronation bouquet
• Narcissus ‘Diamond Jubilee’
• Tulipa ‘Royal Celebration’
• Myrtle, rosemary and oak – all with historic royal associations
More than 40 climate-resilient trees have also been introduced, including species from Commonwealth nations, creating habitats for wildlife while reflecting the Queen’s global legacy.
The garden is tucked just behind the Espresso Bar on the Broad Walk, only moments from Avenue Gardens, with four accessible entrances including Chester Road and Broad Walk. Opening hours are 9am – 8pm and entry is managed to ensure a comfortable visitor experience
For anyone working in and around Harley Street and the West End, it’s a perfect nearby escape, blending heritage, nature and thoughtful design in one remarkable setting.
