The Royal Marsden marks five years of advanced cancer care at cavendish square

This week marks five years since The Royal Marsden opened its brand-new, research led, diagnostic, outpatient and treatment facility in Cavendish Square.

Located in the heart of the capital’s world-renowned and most respected healthcare district between Oxford Street and Harley Street, the facility in Cavendish Square offers world leading standards of cancer care to patients in a calm, modern and reassuring environment.

Since opening, the facility has delivered over 82,000 outpatient appointments, alongside over 13,000 Medical Day Unit visits, around two-thirds of which were for chemotherapy. Its state-of-the-art imaging suite has supported over 33,000 appointments.

One year ago, The Royal Marsden Private Care also opened its new Medical Day Unit (MDU) in Sutton. Sutton’s MDU was modelled on the success of Cavendish Square, bringing a central London standard of environment and service to Surrey, enabling patients to access some of the most advanced cancer treatments available, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies, in a calm and reassuring setting shaped by patient feedback

Looking ahead, Cavendish Square continues to evolve, and this year will introduce an enhanced breast one stop service, which is a rapid diagnostic service offering consultation, imaging and biopsy in a single streamlined visit, as well as new on-site skin biopsy service and an enhanced urology and prostate assessment service offers a complete, end-to-end diagnostic pathway.

“Over the past five years, we have significantly strengthened our Private Care presence to ensure more patients can access research-led, patient-centred cancer care closer to home,” says Professor Chris Nutting, Divisional Medical Director of The Royal Marsden Private Care.

“By combining outstanding multidisciplinary expertise with state-of-the-art facilities, we are continuing to expand access to the most advanced cancer treatments, while shaping our services around what matters most to patients, personalised care and a reassuring environment throughout their treatment.”
